About me

Who I am:
My name is María and I am a native Spanish teacher, writer and proofreader with more than ten years of experience.

I teach Spanish at all levels, both online and face-to-face. I also work as a proofreader and I do some translation works from English and Portuguese. I live in Madrid, where I work in-company and for private students and with small groups. Right now, and thanks to the Internet, I have students in the US, Canada, France, Italy, Brazil, Switzerland, UK, Turkey, Japan, India, Lebanon and so on.

How I came here:
I have a bachelor’s degree on Spanish Philology (Linguistics and Spanish Literature) and a master’s degree on Spanish as a Second Language (ELE). During my bachelor’s degree I specialized mostly in Phonology and Syntax.

I have lived abroad several times, both during my bacherlor’s degree (Netherlands, 2008) and later as a teacher (Portugal, 2016). In 2017, I moved back to Madrid, where I currently live.

Finally, I have done several trainings with prestigious institutions, like Instituto Cervantes and Calamo & Cran.

As part of my job, I also write for several blogs and language magazines and I do translation and copy editing works. Among my clients, there are some important companies, suches as Admiral, Rastreator, L’Occitane, Scholastic and so on.

I love teaching and learning, and languages are one of my biggest passions. Along with Spanish, I speak fluent Portuguese, English and French.

Others:

In my free time, I love reading good books, cooking vegetarian dishes, practising sports, going to the movies, playing table games and, most of all, spending time with my family and friends.

My pronouns are she – her – her.
